  Course Focus

Your success is our main concern…
       and our focus!

Everything in the Massage Therapy Course is included specifically to support one of the following:

  1. prepare you for the exam for licensure
  2. increase the potential for the success of your future private practice
  3. encourage your personal growth

There are specifically designed activities and assignments that have been woven throughout the course to encourage movement toward these goals. Here are some details:

  • Preparing you for the Exam: Our Massage Therapy course prepares you for the exam required for you to earn your Iowa Massage Therapy license. In addition to teaching you relevant content, we have activities to reduce test anxiety and maximizing your likelihood of passing your exam. While the process toward you earning your license is new for you, it is not new for us. So we help you every step of the way. During class we also go over your exam options and help you to prepare the papers for the registration and licensure process.

  • Building a solid foundation: With massage, there will be lots of options for a specialty and unique direction for your future, but your “beginning foundation” (so important for your overall success) can only start once. This is why our Massage Therapy course centers on building a solid foundation in what is often a "whole new world" for students. Our broad based education will teach you enough to be able to offer a wide variety of massage services (all of which could be on your exam) and also have some experience to see what areas you might like to pursue further later.

  • Professionalism: Although the concepts and attitudes of professionalism are equally as important as the hands-on massage techniques, they are often taken for granted. However, this directly relates to the return of your satisfied clients and success in your private practice. Examples include treating each individual with acceptance and respect. We also value building a sense of community and cooperation with colleagues rather than competition. Professionalism is an integral part of our Massage Therapy Program, both in our words and even more importantly, in our actions.

  • Growth: People often think the hands are the most important tools for Massage Therapists. We believe their whole “Being” actually contributes to their success. For this reason, we encourage expanding awareness of ourselves and personal growth in the course. One of our specialties is supporting each individual toward their next level of excellence as a part of what we call “Mentoring”.
